Worry about pain is a multifaceted experience influenced by psychological, cognitive, physical, and sociocultural factors, shaping individuals’ emotional responses and coping mechanisms. Assessing worry about pain necessitates comprehensive and sensitive measurement instruments. This study aims to develop the Turkish version of WAPQ and investigate its validity and reliability. Our study included 86 adults with chronic musculoskeletal pain. To assess the reliability of the WAPQ, Cronbach’s alpha was calculated, and test-retest reliability was evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). For validity, factor structure, construct validity, content validity, and convergent validity were evaluated. Content validity was established through expert panel evaluation using the Content Validity Index (CVI). Convergent validity was evaluated by comparing the WAPQ with Fear of Pain Questionnaire-III (FPQ-III), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and Nottingham Health Profile (NHP). The Cronbach alpha coefficient was found to be 0.961. WAPQ was explained by 2 factors. The two factors determined in the scale explained 72.75% of the total variance. CVI was found to be 89.93%. A moderate positive correlation was found to be between WAPQ and FPQ-III, BAI and NHP (r = 0.358–0.472 and p <.05). The Turkish version of WAPQ is a valid and reliable assessment tool that researchers can use for patients experiencing pain.
