Renewable energies represent a pivotal shift towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, which are crucial for preserving our environment. The Renewable Energy Supply Chain (RESC) intricately manages the journey from initial resource input to energy production, playing a vital role in resource optimization and environmental preservation. Integrating emerging technologies such as blockchain into RESC could significantly improve tracking, security, and transparency, further fortify our environmental conservation efforts. However, the adoption of blockchain technology within energy supply chains requires careful analysis of operational, security, technological, and cooperative dimensions. This research offers a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)-based optimization model to systematically evaluate these challenges in blockchain adoption within the RESC under ideal and non-ideal scenarios. Applying this model to a case study focused on the power supply chain underscores the significant impact of deployment costs as a major obstacle for blockchain implementation. Moreover, the findings demonstrate personnel resistance to process change as a critical barrier to blockchain acceptance within the energy sector.
