Diabetes is a major public health problem worldwide and is associated with pathophysiological mechanisms such as metabolic disorders, oxidative stress and inflammation. The endocannabinoid system may play an important role in these processes, and therefore the antidiabetic potential of compounds acting on CB1 and CB2 receptors should be examined. This study aims to further examine the antidiabetic effects of the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) agonist WIN 55,212-2 on rats and the effects of these effects on inflammation and oxidative stress. In this study, rats created as an experimental diabetes model with STZ will be used. Rats will be treated with WIN 55,212-2 and its antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects will be evaluated. The antidiabetic effect will be determined by comparing the blood glucose levels taken from the vein on the 0th and 21st days and the markers in the plasma. Anti-inflammatory effects will be examined through the expression of inflammatory markers, which will be measured by ELISA and RT-qPCR analyzes in blood samples taken from the jugular vein on days 0 and 21. Oxidative stress levels will be assessed using markers of oxidative damage in plasma samples. The results of this study will help us better understand the antidiabetic potential of WIN 55,212-2 and the effects of this effect on inflammation and oxidative stress. These findings may contribute to the identification of new targets in diabetes treatment and the development of more effective treatment strategies.
